Mars beyond

I walked through the woods at night
looking at the stars
They beckoned me to think again
I stopped and looked at mars.

The red light glimmering through the Trees of Autumn
The shadows cast a million miles of reflection
In darkness light tinted with its redness
Oh how this chance may be forgotten in sections again

This one small planet in orbit with us may speak
In a language to ancient to repeat
The winds of time dispassionately spray the chaff
Leaving the symbols to teach the first and last

I returned from the woods heading east
The sun rose beneath my feet
The warmth reminded me to feel again
I walked on and remembered who I was, my friend.
